How does the GearPlug AI know about my gear?
When you chat with the GearPlug AI, we provide it with a list of the gear you've added to your studio. This context allows it to give you highly specific advice. For example, asking "How do I make a bass patch?" becomes much more powerful when the AI knows you own a Moog Minitaur and can provide a step-by-step guide for that specific synth.
Is my gear list data private?
Yes. Your privacy is critical. Your gear list is stored securely and is only ever used to provide context to the AI during your own chat sessions. It is never shared with other users or third parties.
How do I cancel my subscription?
All GearPlug subscriptions (Pro and Pro Plus) are managed securely through your Apple ID. To cancel, go to the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap "Subscriptions". You'll find GearPlug there and can manage your plan. We provide a direct link to this page from the in-app settings screen for your convenience.
Can I automatically sync my plugins?
Yes! The Gearplug Desktop Companion App automatically scans your computer for installed VST3, AU, and AAX plugins and syncs them to your account in seconds. Available for Windows and macOS. Download it after signing up from the web app's Settings page.
What is the Desktop Companion App?
The Desktop Companion App is a lightweight application for Windows and macOS that automatically discovers and syncs your installed plugins (VST3, AU, AAX) to your GearPlug account. It runs in the background and keeps your plugin library up to date without manual entry. Once installed, it connects to your GearPlug account using your unique API key.
How do I get my API key?
After signing up, go to the Settings page in the web app and you'll find your unique API key in the Desktop Companion section. This key securely links the companion app to your account. Copy it and paste it into the companion app when prompted during setup.
How do I use the Desktop Companion App?
First, download the app from the Settings page and install it on your computer. Launch the app and enter your API key from the Settings page. The app will automatically scan your system for installed plugins and sync them to your account. It runs quietly in the background and updates your plugin library whenever you install new plugins. You can view the sync status and manage settings from the app's system tray icon.
